About ABMS
An independent, non-governmental, non-profit scientific and professional association advancing biomedical research, scholarly publishing, and education since 1998.
Who We Are
The Association of Basic Medical Sciences of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ABMS FBiH) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit scientific and professional association founded in Sarajevo in 1998.
ABMS brings together biomedical scientists, clinicians, pathologists, educators, and early-career researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Southeast Europe, and the wider international scientific community. Its activities connect biomedical research with clinical practice through scholarly publishing, professional education, research support, and international collaboration.
ABMS is the publisher of Biomolecules and Biomedicine —an international peer-reviewed open-access journal indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection, MEDLINE/PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, and DOAJ, which disseminates rigorous, relevant, and reproducible biomedical research. Through the Bryan Warren School of Pathology and the Bosnian–Turkish School of Cytopathology —the Association provides specialist education, case-based learning, and opportunities for international professional exchange.
ABMS also supports early-career researchers through research grants , together with travel support, mentorship, and collaborative projects.
Our mission: to advance biomedical science by supporting rigorous scholarly publishing, high-quality professional education, early-career development, and collaborative research.
Our vision: a connected and internationally engaged biomedical community in which knowledge is openly shared, scientific talent is supported, and research contributes to better healthcare.
